Definition

Ground-level ozone is reactive oxidant gas that is a major constituent of atmospheric smog and is chemically linked to the emissions of major precursor gases, nitrogen oxides (NOx) and volatile organic compounds (VOC). Ground-level ozone concentrations are measured within National air pollution monitoring network.  For monitoring of ground level ozone concentrations are used ozone analysers which operate on the principle of UV absorption.
