A modem is a device that enables a computer or another device to connect to the internet or another network. It works by converting digital signals from the computer into analog signals (and vice versa) so that they can be transmitted over phone lines, cable systems, or wireless networks. Various types of modems exist, such as DSL, cable, and mobile modems, each optimized for different connection methods.
