We commemorate the European Statistics Day

Based on the initiative of the European Statistical Advisory Committee (ESAC) and with the support of the European Statistical System and the European System of Central Banks, the European Statistics Day is celebrated by the European statistical community on 20 October.

Európsky deň štatistiky 2018

The objective of the initiative is to raise European citizens´ awareness about the value and importance of the official statistics in our society. Attention is draw to the key role of official statistics – to produce high-level and sustainable statistical information necessary for the decision-making processes and policy-making.

On 20 October 2018 the European Statistics Day will be celebrated for the third time, this year under the motto "Statistics today for a better tomorrow".

The activities of European statisticians implemented across the European statistical system are publicly available on the ESS website, in a separate section devoted to the European Statistics Day.

On October 19, 2018, Eurostat released on its website the new publication, Key Data on Europe – illustrated statistics. It provides insight into the development of interesting demographic, economic and environmental indicators in the European Union. The publication offers more visualizations and innovative data presentation formats. It is complemented with a digital publication European Key Figures – Visualized Statistics, which allows users via interactive visualization tools to learn more about their country in time and compare it to other EU Member States.

To promote the European Statistics Day the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic has prepared the following:
