On Thursday, 11 July 2024, PhDr. Ľudmila Ivančíková, PhD., who until now acted as the Director of the Social Statistics and Demography Directorate of the Office. In accordance with Slovak legislation, the Government decided on this at its third meeting in July.
„I warmly welcome Ľudmila Ivančíková to the management of the Statistical Office of the SR. She is an experienced manager and a respected expert who is the guarantee of expertise and moral values necessary for the performance of this function. I am convinced that her acting will bring positive results for the entire society in the form of additional high-quality and useful statistical information“, said the President of the SO SR, Martin Nemky.
Ľudmila Ivančíková has worked in the statistical office for almost her entire professional career. She is a recognized international expert for social and demographic statistics, especially for the field of living conditions and poverty, a member of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Sociology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Economic Informatics of the University of Economics in Bratislava. In addition, she is a member of several expert groups, e.g. in the field of gender equality, migration, national minorities. For a long time, she has been actively involved in the activities of professional associations, such as the Sociological Association, the Statistical and Demographic Society and the Czech Demographic Association. She was the expert guarantor of the Population and Housing Census 2021 project and made significant contribution to modernize the census concept in Slovakia.

My goal will be to monitor and implement modern trends and innovations in the production of statistics at the national and international level and to develop cooperation at international expert forums,,“ added the new Vice-President of the SO SR Ľudmila Ivančíková.
