The Statistical Office would like to inform that starting with the publication of data for January 2024, it will publish time series of indicators of short-term statistics recalculated to the new base period of 2021, in agriculture to 2020. Until December 2023, the base period of 2015 was used. This is a standard procedure carried out regularly and coordinated within the European Statistical System, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2019/2152 of the European Parliament and of the Council on European business statistics.
In line with the change of the base period, the concept of activity units will be introduced in the outputs of short-term sectoral statistics from January 2024. The activity unit is a part of the enterprise (institutional unit), for which the selected indicators will be included in the sector according to the actual activity and not in the sector of the main (predominant) activity of the entire enterprise. The result will be an improvement in the quality of statistical results broken down by the Statistical Classification of Economic Activities SK NACE Rev. 2.
The changes will affect selected monthly indicators in the following sectors: agriculture, industry, construction, transport and storage, trade (wholesale, retail trade, sale and repair of motor vehicles), accommodation, food and beverage service activities, information and communication, selected market services, as well as business tendency surveys.
Within these sectors, the change will affect indicators: producer price indices and market services, production, turnover, new orders, employment, wages, hours worked, labour productivity, economic sentiment indicator. Whole time series will be updated in case of basic indices and selected indicators in case of year-on-year and month-on-month indices.
Previously published time series recalculated on the base period of 2015 will continue to be available in historical data under the same name as before.
