Turnover in selected sectors of economy in January 2019

Development in January 2019 in comparison with December 2018 1)

Turnover increased, month-on-month, in information and communication by 8,4 %, transportation and storage by 6,1 % and in industry by 2,8 %. It dropped in selected market services by 5 % and in construction by 1,6 %.

Development in January 2019 compared with January 2018

Turnover in industry increased by 15,4 %. The development by the SK NACE sections was affected by increase in water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation by 22,4 %; in manufacturing by 20 %; mining and quarrying by 10,9 % and by decrease in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 6,2 %.  In terms of particular groupings of industrial sectors, which contributed at most to the total turnover increase, the most significant growth was recorded in manufacture of transport equipment by 51,9 %, manufacture of metal and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment by 12,1 %,  manufacture of wood and paper products, printing by 15,8 %, other manufacture, repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 16,5 % and in manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. by 7,4 %. Turnover decreased in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 6,2 %, manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products by 7,1 %, manufacture of rubber and plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products by 5,1 % and in manufacture of chemicals and chemical products by 5,3 %.

Turnover in construction increased by 2,7 %.

Turnover in transportation and storage 2) increased by 9,3 % affected by higher turnover in all activities. It rose most significantly in warehousing and support activities for transportation by 17,8 %, land transport and transport via pipelines by 2,7 % and postal and courier activities by 12,7 %.

Turnover in information and communication 3) increased, year-on-year, by 8,5 % influenced mainly by higher turnover in telecommunications by 24,6 % and in information service activities by 15,1 %. It decreased only in computer programming by 2,7 %.

In selected market services 4), total turnover increased by 6,1 %. The development was affected mostly by rise in administrative, office support and other business support activities by 20,7 %, legal and accounting activities by 11,1 % and gambling and betting activities by 6,2 %. Turnover dropped in architectural and engineering activities by 17 % and in real estate activities by 5 %.
