Foreign trade detailed data in November and for the first eleven months of 2018

In November, the total export of goods increased by 5,3 % to EUR 7 682,9 million and the total import rose by 11,7 % to EUR 7 599,3 million compared with the corresponding period last year. The foreign trade balance was in surplus in the amount of EUR 83,6 million (by EUR 407,8 million lower than in November 2017).

In January-November 2018, the foreign trade balance was in surplus in the amount of EUR 2 581,4 million (by EUR 514 million lower than in the corresponding period in 2017).

The Slovak Republic had the highest active balance with Germany (EUR 3 929,2 million), France (EUR 2 505 million), the United Kingdom (EUR 2 479,6 million), Austria (EUR 2 045,8 million), Italy (EUR 1 896,5 million), Poland (EUR 1 726 million), USA (EUR 1 682,8 million),   the Czech Republic (EUR 1 474,3 million), Spain (EUR 1 058,4 million), Romania (EUR 856 million) and Hungary (EUR 789,2 million)

The largest passive balance was recorded with Vietnam
(EUR 4 164,7 million), the Republic of Korea (EUR 4 026 million), China (EUR 2 929,2 million), the Russian Federation (EUR 2 335,7 million), Malaysia (EUR 449,5 million), Taiwan (EUR 378,9 million), Japan (EUR 310,8 million), Ukraine (EUR 204,1 million)  and with India (EUR 184,8 million).

Goods in the amount of EUR 74 057,5 million were exported from the Slovak Republic. Compared with corresponding period of 2017, the total export grew by 7 %.

In terms of goods, the increase was recorded in export of motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for transport of persons by EUR 3 643,1 million, electrical lighting or signaling equipment by EUR 250,3 million, wires and cables by EUR 144,4 million and machines and mechanical appliances having individual functions by EUR 112,9 million. The highest decrease was recorded in export of monitors and projectors, reception apparatus for television by EUR 404,2 million, bodies for motor vehicles by EUR 382,9 million, telephone sets, including telephones for cellular networks by EUR 186,5 million and parts and accessories suitable for transmission apparatus for radio-broadcasting or television by EUR 150,1 million.

Relating the most significant trade partners, export increased to Germany by 16,6 %, the Czech Republic by 10,1 %, Poland by 6,1 %, France by 6,7 %, Italy by 1,8 %, Austria by 2,7 %, USA by 20,6 %, Spain by 3 %, Romania by 10,1 % and the Russian Federation by 0,7 %. Export decreased to Hungary by 1,9 %, United Kingdom by 4,7 % and the Netherlands by 7,8 %.

In terms of the main economic groupings, the export to the EU countries rose by 7 % (it represented 85,3 % of the total export of the SR) and to the OECD countries by 6,9 % (it represented 88,5 % of the total export of the SR).  

Goods amounted to the value of EUR 71 476,1 million were imported to the Slovak Republic with a year-on-year growth of 8,1 %.

In terms of goods, the increase was registered in import of parts and accessories of the motor vehicles by EUR 1 722,3 million, wires and cables by EUR 502,5 million, petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude by EUR 498 million and spark-ignition reciprocating or rotary internal combustion piston engines by EUR 461,4 million. The significant drop was recorded in import of products of liquid crystals by EUR 367 million and monitors and projectors, television reception apparatus by EUR 294,9 million.

In relation to the most significant trade partners, the import increased from Germany by 14,2 %, the Czech Republic by 4,9 %, Vietnam by 14,3 %, the Republic of Korea by 8,9 %, Poland by 10,3 %, the Russian Federation by 22,8 %, Hungary by 2,9 %, Italy by 8,5 %, France by 2,2 % and Austria by 7,7 %. The import decreased from China by 15,6 %.

In terms of the main economic groupings, the import from the EU countries rose by 9,9 % (it represented 67,6 % of the total import) and from the OECD countries by 7,2 % (it represented 66,5 % of the total import of the SR), compared with the corresponding period of 2017.
