In February compared with January, consumer prices increased by 0,2 % in total.  Prices rose in the divisions of transport by 1,1 %; restaurants and hotels by 0,6 %; health by 0,5 %; alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 0,4 %; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels; recreation and culture equally by 0,2 %;  food and non-alcoholic beverages; miscellaneous goods and services equally by 0,1 %. Prices of clothing and footwear dropped by 0,9 %. Prices of furniture and furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance; communications; education were at the level of January.

Higher prices of food by 0,3 % were affected by rise in prices of vegetables (including potatoes) by 7,9 %; fruit by 1,4 %; fish by 0,5 %; meat by 0,2 %. Prices of oils and fats dropped by 1,7 %; bread and cereals by 1,5 %; sugar, jam, honey, syrups, chocolates and confectionary by 1 %; milk, cheese and eggs by 0,9 %. Prices of non-alcoholic beverages decreased by 1,5 % (prices of mineral water, soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices decreased by 3 %, prices of coffee, tea and cocoa increased by 0,6 %).

Higher prices of vegetables were affected by price increase of pepper by 30,5 %, white cabbage by 23,1 %, salad cucumbers by 12,8 %, parsley by 11,3 %, onion by 11,1 %, celery by 11 %, tomatoes by 9,6 %, potatoes by 6,6 %, carrot by 3,9 %. Prices of garlic decreased by 2 %, cauliflower by 0,6 %. Price increases of fruit were affected by higher prices of tangerines by 25 %, lemons by 4,2 %, apples by 4,1 %. Prices of oranges dropped by 8 %, table grapes by 6,4 %, bananas by 3,7 %, kiwi by 2,2 %. Price increase of meat was affected by higher prices of sausages by 0,8 %, beef meat, poultry equally by 0,3 %. Prices of pork meat dropped by 1 %.

Higher prices in the division of alcoholic beverages and tobacco were affected by increase in prices of tobacco by 0,8 %; alcoholic beverages by 0,1 % (prices of beer increased by 1,3 %, spirits by 0,6 %, prices of wine dropped by 2,4 %).

Lover prices in the division of clothing and footwear was affected by decrease in prices of footwear by 1 %; clothing by 0,8 %.

Price increase in the division of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels was affected by higher prices of refuse collection by 1,6 %; services related to the maintenance and repair of the dwelling by 0,8 %; materials for the maintenance and repair of the dwelling; other services related to the dwelling equally by 0,5 %; solid fuels by 0,2 %; imputed rentals of owner-occupiers; heat energy equally by 0,1 %.  Prices of actual rentals paid by tenants; water supply; sewage collection; electricity; gas were at the level of the previous month.  

In the division of furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance, prices of household textiles increased by 0,9 %; glassware, tableware and household utensils by 0,4 %; furniture and furnishings, carpets and other floor coverings by 0,3 %. Prices of tools and equipment for house and garden; goods and services for routine household maintenance decreased equally by 0,3 %; household appliances by 0,1 %.

Price increase in the division of health was affected by higher prices of medical products, appliances and equipment (pharmaceutical products by 0,5 %, therapeutic appliances and equipment by 0,3 %, other medical products by 0,1 %); hospital services equally by 0,5 %; outpatient services by 0,3 % (middle healthcare staff by 1 %, medical services by 0,6 %, dental services by 0,2 %).

Higher prices in transport were due to price increase in operation of personal transport equipment by 1,9 % (fuels and lubricants for personal transport equipment by 2,4 %, other services related to personal transport equipment by 0,4 %, maintenance and repair by 0,3 %, spare parts and accessories by 0,2 %,); transport services by 0,5 % (passenger transport by air by 4,3 %, prices of passenger transport by road, other purchase transport services did not change); purchase of transport vehicles by 0,1 % (new motor vehicles by 0,1 %).

In the division of communication, prices of postal; telephone services were at the level of January. Prices of telephone equipment increased by 0,1 %.

Price increase in the division of recreation and culture was due to higher prices of other major durables for recreation and culture – musical instruments; package holidays equally by 0,4 %; recreational and cultural services by 0,3 %; newspapers, books and stationery by 0,2 %; audio-visual and photographic equipment by 0,1 %. Prices of other recreational items and equipment for gardens and pets did not change.

In the division of education, prices of pre-primary, primary; secondary; tertiary education; education not definable by the level were at the level of the last month.

Increasing prices in the division of restaurants and hotels were affected by higher prices of catering services by 0,7 % (in restaurants, cafes by 0,7 %, in canteens by 0,5 %, payment for meals in canteens of pensioners by 0,4 %). Prices of accommodation services decreased by 0,1 %.

Increase in prices in the division of miscellaneous goods and services were affected by higher prices of other services n.e.c. by 0,7 %; social protection by 0,4 % (payment in day-care centre increased by 0,6 %, payment in social service equipment by 0,5 %, payment in private day nursery by 0,1 %, payment for nursing services by 0,1 %); personal effects n.e.c. by 0,1 %. Prices of personal care; insurance (prices of insurance relating to the dwelling rose by 0,2 %); financial services n.e.c. did not change.

In February 2019 compared with February 2018, consumer prices increased by 2,3 % in total. Prices increased in the divisions of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels by 4,2 %; restaurants and hotels by 3,8 %; miscellaneous goods and services by 3 %; food and non-alcoholic beverages by 2,5 %; alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 2,4 %; health by 2 %; clothing and footwear by 1,6 %; furniture and furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance by 1,3 %; education by 0,9 %; communications by 0,8 %; recreation and culture by 0,6 %. Prices in transport dropped by 2,2 %.

On average, over the first two months of 2019 compared with the same period of 2018, consumer prices increased by 2,2 % in total.

In February compared with January, index of consumer prices increased in households of employees, in households of pensioners and in low-income households equally by 2,4 %.

In February 2019, index of consumer prices increased, year-on-year, in households of employees by 2,2 %, households of pensioners by 2,7 % and in low-income households by 2,4 %.

On average, over the first two months of 2019 compared with the same period of 2018, index of consumer prices increased in households of employees by 2,2 %, in household of pensioners by 2,6 %, in low-income households by 2,3 %.
