In February 2019, industrial production increased, year-on-year, by 5,6 %. The development according to the sections of SK NACE Rev. 2 was affected by growth in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 7,1 %, manufacturing by 5,5 % and in mining and quarrying by 0,2 %.

 

In terms of the specific groupings of the industrial sectors, which contributed most to the total production increase, the most significant growth was recorded in manufacture of transport equipment by 14,6 %, manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. by 25,2 %, electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 7,1 %, manufacture of electrical equipment by 15 % and in manufacture of food, beverages and tobacco products by 6,1 %. The total production was affected by a drop in manufacture of metal and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment by 11,4 %, manufacture of rubber and plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products by 4,2 %, manufacture of textiles, apparel, leather and leather products by 14,7 %, manufacture of chemicals and chemical products by 5 % and in other manufacture, repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 2 %.

Compared with February 2018, in terms of the main industrial groupings, production of investment goods rose by 14,7 %, production relating to energy by 7,4 %,  production of non-durable consumer goods and production of durable consumer goods equally by 2,3 %. Production of intermediate goods dropped by 4,5 %.

After seasonal adjustment, industrial production increased by 0,2 % in February 2019 compared with January 2019.

Since the beginning of the year, IP increased, year-on-year, by 6,4 %, of which in manufacturing by 6,7 %, in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 5,1 % and in mining and quarrying by 1,3 %.

In terms of the specific groupings of the industrial sectors, which contributed most to the total production growth, the most significant increase was recorded in manufacture of transport equipment by 24,7 %, manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. by 24 %, electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 5,1 %, manufacture of electrical equipment by 10,1 %, in manufacture of food, beverages and tobacco products by 6,4 %. Production decreased in manufacture of metal and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment by 9,2 %, manufacture of rubber and plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products equally by 5,7 %, manufacture of textiles, apparel, leather and leather products by 14,7 %, other manufacture, repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 5,9 % and in manufacture of chemicals and chemical products by 10,4 %.

In terms of the main industrial groupings, production of investment goods increased by 21 %, production relating to energy by 4,7 % and production of non-durable consumer goods by 2,1 %.  Production of intermediate goods dropped by 5,4 % and production of durable consumer goods by 5 %.


Note: preliminary results; industrial production represents volume production changes in its natural expression. Data are adjusted from the influence of the number of working days by program JDEMETRA+ and during processing of every month they are back-casted from the beginning of the time series. In February 2019, compared with the same period in 2018 and also from the beginning of the year, the number of working days was coincident.
