Turnover in industry started to increase again, the most significant growth was recorded in selected market services
April´s turnover increased in 4 out of 5 monthly monitored sectors of the economy. Industry´s turnover rose for the first time this year, by almost double digits, selected market services reached the ten percent mark. Turnover in transportation and storage, as well as in information and communication, increased. Only turnover in construction remained in negative values.
Industry1)2), as the largest sector of the economy, increased by 9.1% year-on-year (in constant prices) in April 2024, increasing again after five months of decline. Among the 16 monitored industrial sectors1), 11 recorded higher turnover values.
April´s turnover in selected market services2) increased by 10% year-on-year, which almost doubled their growth compared to March 2024. In transportation and storage enterprises, after the stagnation in March, the turnover growth was activated again and increased by 7.1% year-on-year.
In April, turnover of construction enterprises2) decreased by 0.4% year-on-year, which was the slowest rate of decline in the last eight months.
Turnover in information and communication activities2) rose by 8.3% year-on-year, so after a significant slowdown in March, it stabilized their growth rate again in April 2024.

Development in April 2024 compared to March 2024
Turnover also rose in a month-on-month comparison (after seasonal adjustment) in most sectors, most significantly in construction by 5.5% and in industry by 5.2%. A growth was also recorded in enterprises operating in information and communication activities by 1.8%, as well as in selected market services by 0.6%. Lower turnover than in March was recorded only by the transportation and storage sector, by 0.7%.
Development in the first four months of 2024
In total, for the first four months of 2024, turnover increased year-on-year in selected market services by 6.6%, in information and communication activities by 6.3%, and in transportation and storage by 2.9%. On the contrary, cumulative turnover dropped by 6.1% in construction and by 2.8% in industry.
