Industrial production (IP) increased by 0.8 % year-on-year in August. Development by the sections of SK NACE Rev. 2 was affected by a growth in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 11.1 % and a decrease in manufacturing by 0.5 % and in mining and quarrying by 9.2 %.

Concerning the manufacturing that contributed the most to the overall growth of production, the most significant increase was recorded in the manufacture of metals and fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (by 25.9 %), manufacture of machinery and equipment n. e. c. (by 25.8 %), manufacture of rubber and plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products (by 14.2 %), electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (by 11.1 %) and manufacture of electrical equipment (by 12.7 %). The total production was affected by a decrease in manufacture of transport equipment (by 32.9 %), manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (by 7.8 %), mining and quarrying (by 9.2 %), manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (by 1.2 %) and in other manufacture, repair and installation of machinery and equipment (by 0.7 %).

According to the main industrial groupings, compared to August 2020, production for intermediate consumption increased by 17.6 %, production related to energy by 7.6 % and production of non-durable consumer goods by 7.3 %. Production of capital goods was lower by 16.7 % and production of durable consumer goods by 7.6 %.

After adjusting for seasonal effects, industrial production decreased by 3.8 % in August 2021, compared to July 2021.

Since the beginning of the year, IP increased by 15.5 % year-on-year, of which in manufacturing by 16.2 %, in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 13.4 % and in mining and quarrying by 1.7 %.

Concerning the manufacturing that contributed the most to the overall growth of production, the most significant increase was in manufacture of transport equipment (by 17.8 %), manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products (by 26.5 %), manufacture of machinery and equipment n. e. c. (by 26.9 %), electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (by 13.4 %) and in manufacture of rubber and plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products (by 13.8 %). Production decreased in manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (by 6.8 %) and in manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (by 1.8 %).

According to the main industrial groupings, production of durable consumer goods increased by 21.9 %, production of capital goods by 18.3 %, production for intermediate consumption by 17.5 %, production related to energy by 9.7% and production of non-durable consumer goods by 4.1%.
