In September, compared to the previous year, construction output decreased, it still lag behind the pre-pandemic level by almost 23.4 %.

In September 2021, compared to September 2020, construction output amounted to EUR 521.7 mil. and decreased by 4.7 %. After seasonal adjustment, construction output was 3.8 % lower than in August 2021.

Compared to September 2020, production realized by domestic companies decreased by 6.1 % and amounted to EUR 466.6 million. It represented 89.4% of the total construction output. The development of domestic production was affected by a year-on-year decrease in new construction, including modernization and reconstruction by 10.6 % and an increase in repairs and maintenance by 10.7 %.

In the structure of domestic production, new construction accounted for 69.7 %, repair and maintenance work represented 26.9 %. In terms of production specification, construction on buildings decreased by 4.2 % and civil engineering works decreased by 9.5 % compared to September 2020. Domestic construction of buildings accounted for 65.8 % and civil engineering work represented 34.2 % of the total volume of production. Production realized abroad increased by 9.4 % year-on-year to EUR 55.1 million; it represented 10.6 % of the total volume of production.

In the first nine months in 2021, construction output amounted to EUR 3,706.0 mil. and compared to the same period of 2020, it is lower by 3.3 %. Domestic production decreased by 6 % year-on-year. In the structure of domestic production, new construction, including modernizations and reconstructions accounted for 68.1 %, and the volume of work performed decreased by 9.8 %. Repairs and maintenance increased by 2.3 % compared to the previous year and it represented 27.6 %. Production abroad was higher by 31.6 %.
