In August 2021, construction output reached EUR 502,3 million and it increased by 4,2 % compared to August 2020. Compared to the pre-pandemic period (July 2019), it dropped almost by 16 %. After seasonal adjustments, construction output was higher by 1,9 % than in July 2021.

Compared with August 2020, the output carried out by domestic companies decreased by 1,6 % and reached EUR 445,4 million.  Its share in the total construction output represented 88,7 %. (compared to 2019, it dropped by 20,7 %). The development of domestic production was influenced by the year-on-year decrease in new construction, including renewals and enhancements, by 4,8 % to EUR 304,3 million and also by an increase in repairs and maintenance by 3,7 % to EUR 120,2 million. (compared to 2019, new construction was lower by 23,9 %, repairs and maintenance by 15,9 %). In the structure of domestic production, new construction accounted for 68,3 %, the share of repair and maintenance work represented 27 %. In terms of output specification, compared to August 2020, construction on buildings increased by 2,3 % to EUR 302,3 million and works on civil engineering dropped by 8,7 % to EUR 143,1 million (compared to 2019, construction on buildings decreased by 17,7 %, on civil engineering by 26,3 %). Domestic construction works accounted for 67,9 % and civil engineering works represented 32,1 % of the total volume of the output.

Construction work carried out abroad increased year-on-year by 92,4 % to EUR 56,8 million; it represented 11,3 % of the total volume of the output. (compared with 2019, it rose by 65,7 %).

On average, in the eight months of 2021, construction output reached the volume of EUR 3 184,3 million compared to the corresponding period of 2020, it decreased by 3 % (compared with 2019, it dropped by 12,8 %). Domestic output decreased by 6 % year-on-year to EUR 2 871 million. In the structure of domestic output, new construction, including renewals and enhancements, accounted for 67,9 %, and the realized volume of work (EUR 1 949,2 million) decreased by 9,6 %. Repair and maintenance works in the amount of EUR 795,1 million increased by 1,1 %, compared to the previous year and their share was 27,7 %. Production abroad was higher by 36,2 %.
