In February, construction output decreased, year-on-year, by 4,2 % to EUR 239,6 million. After seasonal adjustment, it was higher by 4,2 % compared with January 2013.

Compared with February 2012, output realized by domestic construction companies decreased by 2,5 % to EUR 227,7 million. Its share on total construction output rose by 1,6 p.p. to 95 %. The development of the domestic output was affected by a decline in new construction, renewals and enhancements by 5,6 %. 

The volume of repairs and maintenance works increased by 6,8 %. New construction, renewals and enhancements represented 72,5 % of the structure of the domestic output (by 2,3 p.p. less than in February 2012). The share of repairs and maintenance works increased to 26,5 %. In terms of output specification, the volume of civil engineering works increased by 27,3 % and construction of buildings decreased by 8,1 %. Construction of buildings represented 79,1 % of the domestic output, civil engineering accounted for 20,9 %.

Non-domestic construction output realized by construction companies dropped by 27,9 %, year-on-year. Its share was 5 % of the total output.

Since the beginning of the year, construction output reached the volume of EUR 446,5 million and decreased by 9 %, year-on-year. Domestic output decreased by 9,1 % to EUR 423,3 million. The volume of realized works in new construction, renewals and enhancements decreased by 14,9 % to EUR 300,2 million. Repairs and maintenance works increased by 9,3 % and amounted to EUR 118,5 million. Non-domestic output declined by 8,3 %. In the structure of the domestic output, the share of new construction, renewals and enhancements fell by 4,8 p.p. to 70,9 %, the share of repairs and maintenance works rose by 4,6 p.p. to 28 %.

Note: Construction production includes volume of works realized by own employees; including estimation of production for construction establishments of non-construction enterprises; absolute data are at current prices, indices are calculated from constant prices (average prices of 2010)In February 2013, the number of working days was lower by one day compared with the corresponding period of 2012 and it was identical since the beginning of the year.
