Foreign trade detailed data in April 2021 and in the first four months of 2021

In April, compared with the corresponding period last year, total exports of goods increased by 103,6 % to EUR 7 286,5 million and total imports increased by 74,5 % to EUR 7 085,1 million. The balance of foreign trade was in surplus in the amount of EUR 201,4 million.

The foreign trade balance for January-April 2021 was in surplus in the amount of EUR 1 461,4 million.

The Slovak Republic had the highest surplus with France (EUR 1 070,7 million), Poland (EUR 940,7 million), Hungary (EUR 838,8 million), Germany (EUR 826,7 million), Austria ( EUR 807,9 million), the United Kingdom (EUR 761,6 million), the United States (EUR 741,8 million), the Czech Republic (EUR 527,9 million), Italy (EUR 485,5 million) and Spain (EUR 335 million). The largest deficit was with the Republic of Korea (EUR 1 496,2 million), Vietnam (EUR 1 302,3 million), the Russian Federation (EUR 1 114,3 million), China (EUR 891,8 million), Malaysia (EUR 248,8 million) and Taiwan (EUR116,8 million).

Goods in the amount of EUR 29 440,8 million were exported from the Slovak Republic.

Compared to the corresponding period in 2020, exports increased by 28,3 %.

In terms of goods, the export of motor vehicles and other motor vehicles designed principally for transport increased by EUR 3 181,4 million, parts, components and accessories of motor vehicles by EUR 602,7 million, monitors, projectors, reception apparatus for television  by EUR 343,4 million, motor vehicles for the transport of goods by EUR 195 million, flat-rolled products of iron or non-alloy steel, hot-rolled by EUR 174,5 million and telephone sets by EUR 115,7 million. Exports of petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, other than crude, decreased the most by EUR 73,4 million and electricity by EUR 35,6 million.

Within the most important trading partners, exports to Germany increased by 29,2 %, the Czech Republic by 23,1 %, Poland by 29,1 %, France by 48,7 %, Hungary by 16,9 %, Austria by 10,5 %, Italy by 34,5 %, the United Kingdom by 0,3 %, the United States by 75,8 %, China by 172,7 %, Spain by 36,7 % and Romania by 25,9 %.

In terms of the main economic groupings, exports to EU countries increased by 26,5 % (accounting for 78,8 % of total SR export) and to OECD countries by 26,7 % (accounting for 87,2 % of total SR exports).

Goods worth EUR 27 979,3 million were imported to the Slovak Republic, with a year-on-year growth of 18,8 %.

In terms of goods, imports of parts and accessories of motor vehicles increased by EUR 1 069,1 million, wires and cables by EUR 231,6 million, electric accumulators, including their separators by EUR 213,1 million, oil gases and other gaseous hydrocarbons by EUR 195 million, diagnostic or laboratory reagents on a pad by EUR 164,1 million and electric motors and generators by EUR 145,2 million.  Imports of petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude, decreased more significantly by EUR 132,9 million and electricity by EUR 48 million.

In relation to the most important trading partners, imports from Germany increased by 58,8 %, the Czech Republic by 9 %, China by 13,6 %, the Russian Federation by 11 %, the Republic of Korea by 14,8 %, Poland by 6,3 % , Vietnam by 11,9 % and France by 20,2 %. Imports from Hungary decreased by 24,4 %, Austria by 6 %, the Netherlands by 6,3 % and the United States of America by 0,3 %.

In terms of main economic groupings, compared to the corresponding period of 2020, imports from EU countries increased by 22,1 % (accounting for 66,2 % of total imports) and from OECD countries increased by 18,2 % (accounting for 65,6 % of total imports from the Slovak Republic).

Information was processed by the Statistical Office of the SR on the basis of data from the Customs Section of the Financial Directorate of the SR obtained within the customs clearance and INTRASTAT-SK declarations, which are provided by consignee and consignor of goods.
