At the end of 2020, companies in the main sectors of the economy tried to reduce the annual drops with higher turnover. In December 2020, turnover in industry maintained year-on-year growth for the second month in a row, mainly due to considerably higher year-on-year turnover in manufacture of transport equipment by 10,6 %.

The end of the year was also favorable for the other sectors. In transportation and storage, turnover increased year-on-year for the first time in 2020 by 4,2 %, and after nine months of decline, turnover in selected market services also recorded a slight increase of 0,6 %. The turnover drop in construction slowed down, falling below 10 % after eight months. The development in information and communication (ICT) was worse, where turnover decreased in double digits for the second month in a row.

However, the full-year balance for most industries was mainly about quantifying declines compared to 2019. In industry, turnover decreased in total for the whole year by 9,4 %, in the most important production of manufacture of transport equipment the decline reached 12,1 %. In construction the decline was double-digit and in selected market services, the aggregate number for the year decreased by 5 %, while the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic were most pronounced in the drop of turnover of travel agencies and offices, which closed the year with an overall decrease of turnover by 61,7 %.

Turnover in transportation and storage 2) ended the year 2020 in positive numbers, turnover started to grow again by 4,2 % after an annual decrease at the end of 2020. In December 2020, turnover decreased only in the least significant activities, i.e. in air and water transport.
