In June 2020, the annual inflation rate measured by the harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) reached 1,8 %. Compared to May 2020 (month-on-month), HICP prices decreased by 0.1 %.

The average annual inflation rate (expressed as the change in the average harmonized index of consumer prices over the last 12 months compared with the average of the previous 12 months) was 2.7 % in June 2020.

Measures due to the coronavirus pandemic were gradually released in June, it continued reopening of further shops and services (restaurants, hotels, hairdressing, domestic recreational and cultural services) and shopping centers. Field surveys began to be carried out again. It remained only very small share of the imputed prices as a result of the unavailable services (e.g. air transport).

The discrepancies in the month-on-month comparison were caused by the calculation of the consumer price index due to the comparison of prices collected in a different way. While prices in June were surveyed in the standard way, the May prices were replaced by prices from other available sources (e.g. store websites, telephone and e-mail surveys, scanner data).

The month-on-month harmonized index of consumer prices 99.9 % was influenced by the decrease and increase of prices in the following COICOP divisions: Food and non-alcoholic beverages (negative contribution -0,32 percentage points), Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (negative contribution -0.03 p. p.), Clothing and footwear (negative contribution -0.03 p. p.), Recreation and culture (negative contribution -0.02 p. p.), Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (negative contribution -0.01 p. p.), Health (positive contribution 0.04 p. p.), Furniture, household equipment and routine household maintenance (positive contribution 0.05 p. p.), Restaurants and hotels (positive contribution 0.06 p. p.), Transport (positive contribution 0.07 p. p.), Miscellaneous goods and services ((positive contribution 0.10 p. p.), of which Personal care (positive contribution 0.08 p. p.), Financial services (positive contribution 0.02 p. p.), Insurance (negative contribution -0.01 p. p.)). In the divisions Communication and Education zero contribution to month on month index was noticed.
