Employment and average monthly wage in selected sectors of economy in November 2021

In November 2021, wages rose mainly in accommodation, by more than a fifth

Employment

In November 2021 compared to November 2020, employment recorded a more significant increase only in information and communication activities, by 7,8 %. There was an increase in accommodation (by 4,7 %), and a slight increase only in transportation and storage (by 0,7 %).

In the other sectors monitored, employment decreased. In construction (by 0,8 %) and in industry (by 0,7 %), the year-on-year decline did not exceed 1 %. Employment decreased mainly in food and beverage service activities (by 7,8 %), also in sale and repair of motor vehicles (by 4,8 %), in retail trade (by 4,1 %), in wholesale (by 4 %) and in selected market services (by 1,4 %).

On average, over first eleven months of 2021, compared to the corresponding period in 2020, employment increased only in information and communication by 4,4 % and it rose slightly also in selected market services by 0,3 %. In the rest of the eight sectors monitored, a decrease was recorded, the highest in accommodation by 10,1 %, in food and beverage service activities by 7,7 %, in wholesale by 4,3 %, in construction by 4,1 %, retail trade by 3,4 %, in sale and repair of motor vehicles by 2,4 %, industry by 2,2 % and in transportation and storage by 1,6 %.

Average monthly wage

In November, the average nominal monthly wage increased in all sectors monitored, the most in accommodation, by 21 % (it reached EUR 837). It recorded double-digit growth also in wholesale by 15,6 % (EUR 1 433), in sale and repair of motor vehicles by 13,3 % (EUR 1 321) and in food and beverage service activities by 10,3 % (EUR 589).

Wages also rose year-on-year in industry by 8,4 % (EUR 1 595), in transportation and storage by 7,3 % (EUR 1 225), in selected market services by 6,5 % (EUR 1 215), in retail trade by 6,3  % (EUR 945), construction by 6,1 % (EUR 898) and information and communication activities by 3 % (EUR 2 444).

In November 2021 compared with November 2020, the average real monthly wage increased the most in accommodation by 14,6 %. It rose also in wholesale by 9,5 %, in sale and repair of motor vehicles by 7,3 %, in food and beverage service activities by 4,5 %, in industry by 2,7 %, in transportation and storage by 1,6 %, in selected market services by 0,9 %, in retail trade by 0,7 % and in construction by 0,5 %. In information and communication the real monthly wage dropped by 2,5 %.

On average, over the first eleven months of 2021 compared with the corresponding period in 2020, the nominal wage increased year-on-year in accommodation by 11,8 % (reaching EUR 787), in wholesale by 10,2 % (EUR 1 198), in sale and repair of motor vehicles by 10 % (EUR 1 152), in selected market services by 9,5 % (EUR 1 136), in food and beverage service activities by 8,6 % (EUR 580), in industry by 8,5 % (EUR 1 279), in construction by 7,7 % (EUR 812), in retail trade by 7,5 % (EUR 871), in information and communication by 6,6 % (EUR 2 153), in transportation and storage also by 6,6 % (EUR 1 091).

At the same time, the real monthly wage increased year-on-year in accommodation by 8,6 %, in wholesale by 7,1 %, in sale and repair of motor vehicles by 6,9 %, in selected market services by 6,4 %, in food and beverage service activities by 5,5 %, in industry by 5,4 %, in construction by 4,7 %, in retail trade by 4,5 %, in information and communication activities and in transportation and storage equally by 3,6 %.
