The overall increase in month-on-month inflation in October 2021 was mainly due to higher prices in the following branches of the COICOP classification: Transport, of which in particular fuels (the month-on-month increase in fuel prices represented a positive contribution of 0.15 percentage point to the overall month-on-month inflation of 0.5 %), Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (positive contribution of 0.07 p.p.), Recreation and culture (positive contribution 0.07 p.p.), Clothing and footwear (positive contribution 0.06 p.p.), Furniture, household equipment and routine household maintenance (positive contribution 0.05 p.p.), Restaurants and hotels (positive contribution 0.05 p.p.), Miscellaneous goods and services (positive contribution 0.05 p.p.). In the division Food and non-alcoholic beverages, Food prices increased month-on-month (positive contribution 0.05 p.p.) and, on the same time, Non-alcoholic beverages prices decreased (negative contribution -0.04 p.p.), which together accounted for 0.01 percentage point of month-on-month inflation.

Statistical office publishes data on Harmonized Indices of Consumer Prices (HICP) usually on the day of their publication by Eurostat; a few days after the national CPI inflation release. This is inflation according to the uniform EU methodology in order to ensure the mutual comparability of consumer price indices between countries. Consumer baskets differ in part. The HICP, unlike the CPI, does not include the components "Imputed rents" and selected items related to major repairs and household maintenance, which results in certain differences in the weights of the components.
