New orders in industry finally started to grow during May, they were up by a fifth year-on-year

New orders after four months of year-on-year decline in May 2022 increased by 20% and reached a volume²⁾ of EUR 5.77 billion. After seasonal adjustment, new orders in industry increased by 3.8% month-on-month in May 2022.¹⁾

Compared to the corresponding period last year, orders increased by more than 20% in four of the 12 monitored sectors, namely companies in manufacture of motor vehicles, manufacture of other transport equipment, manufacture of fabricated metal products as well as pharmaceutical companies. On the contrary, orders decreased year-on-year only in two sectors - in manufacture of basic metals and in manufacture of chemicals and chemical products.
