Turnover in industry started increasing, it remained in decline only in construction
July´s turnover increased in 4 out of 5 monthly monitored sectors of the economy, most significantly in selected market services. Turnover in industry returned to growth after two months of negative values. Enterprises in transportation and storage, as well as in information and communication activities, also prospered again. Only turnover in construction continued to lag behind last year´s results.
Turnover in industrial enterprises1)2), a largest sector of the economy, rose by 3% year-on-year (in constant prices) in July 2024, which was only the second growth in the current year. Among the 16 monitored industrial sectors1), up to 12 recorded higher turnover values.
July´s turnover in selected market services2) rose by 12.6% year-on-year, they last rose at a similar double-digit rate in May 2019.
Transportation and storage enterprises recorded a turnover increase by 6.3%, thus returning to the trend of year-on-year growth in the current year after a slight decrease in June.
Turnover in information and communication activities2) increased year-on-year by 8.1%, significantly accelerating the pace of their growth. Thus, they continued to maintain positive values this year.
In July 2024, turnover2) of construction enterprises dropped by 4.3% year-on-year, and so they have remained in negative values for eleven months.

Development in July 2024 compared to June 2024
Turnover in a month-on-month comparison (after seasonal adjustments) dropped in all 5 sectors - in selected market services by 4.4%, in construction by 2.9%, in industry by 1.3%, in information and communication activities by 0.6%, as well as in enterprises operating in transportation and storage by 0.2%
Development in the first seven months of 2024
In total, for the first seven months of 2024, turnover increased year-on-year in selected market services by 7.2%, information and communication activities by 5.8%, as well as in transportation and storage by 2.4%. On the contrary, cumulative turnover dropped by 6.6% in construction and by 3% in industry.
