Orders in industry again decreased

In May 2024, the value of new orders in industry¹⁾ decreased by 1.2% year-on-year and reached a volume of EUR 6.04 billion. After seasonal adjustment, new orders declined month-on-month by 5.3% month-on-month²⁾.

In May, the decrease in volumes of orders in 9 of the 12 monthly monitored industrial sectors was reflected in the current return to the trend of year-on-year decreases in 2024, while they only rose in April.

In May 2024, orders decreased most significantly year-on-year in manufacture of clothing, manufacture of other means of transport and in manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. Orders increased year-on-year only in manufacture and processing of metals, manufacture of electrical equipment and manufacture of motor vehicles, semi-trailers and trailers.
