Turnover in selected sectors of economy in November 2024

Turnover in industry rose at a slower pace, with a double-digit growth only in selected market services

November´s turnover increased in 3 out of 5 monitored sectors, most significantly in industry exceeding 3% and in selected market services above 11%. Information and communication recorded a turnover decrease, for the first time in more than three and a half years.

In the key sector of the economy, industry1)2), turnover growth was maintained in November 2024 by 3.1% year-on-year (at constant prices). The growth was milder than in October, but at the same time the third highest in 2024. Among the 16 monitored industrial sectors1), only 6 of them recorded a year-on-year increase, but up to three only increased at a double-digit rate.

Turnover in selected market services2) rose by 11.3% year-on-year, increasing at a double-digit rate for the fourth time during 2024. 

Turnover growth continued in transportation and storage enterprises, it was higher by 1% in November.

Sales in information and communication activities2) decreased by 1.6% year-on-year, the decrease was recorded for the first time since February 2021.

Turnover2) of construction enterprises decreased by 0.6% year-on-year in November 2024, but the pace slowed down for the third consecutive month. Lower turnover persisted in construction for the past fourteen months.

Development in November 2024 compared to October 2024

Turnover in a month-on-month comparison (after seasonal adjustment) dropped in 3 out of 5 sectors, namely in industry by 2.4%, in transportation and storage enterprises by 2.1% and in information and communication activities by 1.3%. It rose in construction by 2.7% and in selected market services by 1%.

Development in the first eleven months of 2024

In total, for the first eleven months of 2024, turnover increased year-on-year in three sectors, namely in selected market services by 8.3%, information and communication activities by 4.6% and in transportation and storage by 2%. On the contrary, cumulative turnover decreased by 6.4% in construction and by 1.7% in industry.

Manufacturing is further divided into 13 manufacturing industries, or individual industrial groupings

Together with the publication of the data for January 2024, the entire time series were recalculated in connection with the adopted adjustment of the methodology. More in the document Change of the base period and the classification according to kind-of-activity units (PDF - 183 kB).

Since 2022, selected market services include business entities that are classified into the divisions 68 to 82 according to the main economic activity of SK NACE. Due to decreasing the burden of the business environment, data are not available on turnover for subjects classified into SK NACE divisions 85 to 96. Turnover therefore do not include information for education (SK NACE division 85), arts, entertainment and recreation, including gaming and betting activities (SK NACE divisions 90 - 93). Also, turnover of enterprises for other activities (SK NACE 95 and 96) to which they belonged among others laundry and dry cleaning, hairdressing and beauty treatment, funeral services, well - being services and other services of predominantly personal nature.
