The visit rate of more than 400 000 guests brought the hoteliers the second best November ever
November´s visit rate of foreign and domestic guests in hotels and guesthouses improved by 11% year-on-year. However, it did not exceed the record November from 2019.
In November, 431 000 guests spent at least one night in accommodation establishments in Slovakia in November, which was by 11.2% more than in the corresponding period last year. To reach the visit rate of the most historically successful year in 2019, the accommodation providers still lacked 10% (49 thousand) guests. The total visit rate was a positive surprise, the accommodation providers achieved the second highest November´s visit rate in history.
Guests spent more than 1 million nights in tourism establishments in November. Compared to the corresponding period last year, it was an increase by 9%. The average length of stay was 2.4 nights.

Domestic visitors made up a significant, more than two-thirds share (almost 294 000 people) in the structure of the accommodated guests. Their total number was higher by more than 11.2% year-on-year, but compared to 2019, the values were lower by 9%.
In a year-on-year comparison, the number of foreign visitors rose by 11.2% to 137 000 guests. The number of foreigners staying in hotels and guesthouses continued to lag behind the numbers from 2019, by 13.6%

Development of tourism in the regions of Slovakia
November brought a year-on-year increase in the number of visitors in all regions of Slovakia, from 3% in Trenčiansky kraj to 17% in Bratislavský kraj. Prešovský and Žilinský kraj had the closest comparable visit rate to 2019.
Low precipitation during November also favored Bratislavský kraj, which was the most visited region of Slovakia with 120 000 guests. This region attracted more than 50% of all foreigners and 17% of domestic guests. Žilinský kraj (83 000 visitors), Prešovský kraj (72 000 guests) and Banskobystrický kraj (50,000 visitors) followed in the rankings of regional visitors.
The number of domestic visitors increased year-on-year in all eight regions, from 4% in Nitriansky kraj to 18% in Bratislavský kraj. An increase in the number of foreigners was recorded in 6 out of 8 regions, the most significantly up to approximately 17% in Prešovský and Bratislavský kraj. Banskobystrický (by 11%) and Trenčiansky kraj (by 2%) recorded fewer foreigners compared to last November.
Summary for the first eleven months of 2024
In total, in the first eleven months of 2024, 5.5 million visitors were accommodated in tourism establishments, which was by 2.9% more than in the corresponding period last year. The number of foreigners increased year-on-year by 3.2% and domestic guests by 2.7%. Total visit rate remained below the level of 2019 values, with 8% of those staying for the period January-November.
