Turnover in selected sectors of economy in January 2025

Turnover at the beginning of the year rose in all sectors

Turnover at the beginning of 2025 was higher year-on-year in all 5 sectors monitored monthly. In the dominant sector, it rose only slightly, after a decline at the end of the year. Construction had a successful start, with turnover increasing by almost 10%.

In the key sector of the economy, industry1), in January 2025 enterprises´ turnover increased by 0.5% year-on-year (at constant prices). Among the 16 monitored industrial sectors, year-on-year growth was recorded in 8. The most significant impact was the turnover growth in manufacture of transport vehicles by 7.3%.

The other four monthly monitored sectors also achieved a turnover growth. Construction enterprises had significantly higher turnover year-on-year, their turnover increased by 9.6%. It rose for the second consecutive month after fifteen months of decline. In transportation and storage enterprises, turnover was higher by 7.7%, in selected market services by 4.3%, and in information and communication it rose only slightly, by 0.1%.

 
 
 
 

Turnover in a month-on-month comparison (after seasonal adjustment) increased in 2 out of 5 sectors, i.e. in transportation and storage enterprises by 1.7% and in construction by 1%. It  decreased in selected market services by 6.1%, information and communication activities by 4.4% and in industry by 0.2%.

Since 2022, selected market services include business entities that are classified into the divisions 68 to 82 according to the main economic activity of SK NACE. Due to decreasing the burden of the business environment, data are not available on turnover for subjects classified into SK NACE divisions 85 to 96. Turnover therefore do not include information for education (SK NACE division 85), arts, entertainment and recreation, including gaming and betting activities (SK NACE divisions 90 - 93). Also, turnover of enterprises for other activities (SK NACE 95 and 96) to which they belonged among others laundry and dry cleaning, hairdressing and beauty treatment, funeral services, well - being services and other services of predominantly personal nature.
