After four months of a year-on-year decline, new orders in industry started increasing again
The September´s value of new orders in industry1) increased by 2.2% year-on-year and reached a volume of EUR 5.95 billion. It was only the second year-on-year increase this year. Seasonally adjusted, new orders in industry increased by 1.1% in September 2024 compared to August 20242).
The year-on-year increase was recorded in 5 of the 12 monthly monitored industrial sectors. Orders increased the most in manufacture of chemicals and chemical products, manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, and also in manufacture of motor vehicles, semi-trailers and trailers.
On the contrary, orders decreased year-on-year in manufacture of other transport equipment, manufacture of apparel and manufacture of metal structures, except machinery and equipment.
