Harmonized annual inflation in February reached 4.1%
Inflation in the Slovak Republic, according to the common European methodology, moderated its annual growth rate in February 2025. Prices rose annually by 4.1%1) and month-on-month by 0.4%. The annual harmonized inflation rate in the Slovak Republic was slightly higher than the value recorded under the national methodology published on 14 March 2025 in the statistical product Inflation - consumer price indices in February 2025.
In the month-on-month development, prices increased in 10 out of 12 divisions, the most significant impact was the increase in prices of Food and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.4%. In the annual comparison, prices increased in all 12 divisions, from 2.6% in the Transport division to 9.7% in the Education division.
The average annual HICP inflation rate for the last 12 months (from March 2024 to February 2025 including)2) reached 3.2%. The average annual HICP inflation rate is an important indicator of price stability in the country and is one of the four so-called Maastricht criteria for entering the euro area.
The values of harmonized inflation for February 2025 in the EU and EFTA countries will be published by Eurostat on 19 March 2025 at 11 a.m. on its website.
