The number of visitors to hotels and guesthouses tripled year-on-year in November, but a quarter of the visitors before the pandemic was still missing
Most tourists visited Bratislavský kraj in the penultimate month of the last year. Hotels and guesthouses in Prešovský kraj recorded the highest, up to sevenfold, year-on-year increase in the number of visitors.
In November 2022, the total number of visitors to tourism accommodation establishments in Slovakia increased almost threefold year-on-year, it represented 355,000 visitors. The high increase was mainly influenced by the low comparative base in November 2021, when tourism accommodation establishments in selected districts of Slovakia were closed to regular visitors due to anti-pandemic measures. Despite the higher year-on-year growth, a quarter of visitors was still missing to reach the pre-pandemic values (26.1% decrease). Visitors spent 882,000 nights in tourism establishments, the average length of stay in November was 2.5 nights.
