August´s turnover was lower in industry and in transportation, in construction the decline was again by a double-digit
Turnover in August ended in decline in 3 out of 5 monthly monitored sectors of the economy. After last month's growth, turnover in industry and transportation and storage dropped, while construction continued to lag behind last year´s results. A growth was maintained only in selected market services and in information and communication activities.
Turnover in industrial enterprises1)2), the largest sector of the economy, in August 2024 decreased by 8.1% year-on-year (in constant prices), it was the third most significant decrease this year. Among the 16 monitored industrial sectors1), up to 13 recorded a year-on-year lower turnover.
August´s turnover in selected market services2) rose by 9.4% year-on-year, growing at a rate above 9% for the third time this year.
Transportation and storage enterprises recorded a slight turnover decrease by 0.5%, the second time this year.
Turnover in information and communication activities2) increased by 1.4% year-on-year, but the growth rate slowed down significantly.
In August 2024, the turnover2) of construction enterprises dropped by more than 11% year-on-year, a double-digit decline was recorded for the second time in the current year. Lower turnover have persisted in the construction industry for the past twelve months.

Development in August 2024 compared to July 2024
Turnover in a month-on-month comparison (after seasonal adjustments) decreased in all 5 sectors – in selected market services by 2.2%, construction by 4.6%, industry by 1.2%, transportation and storage enterprises by 1.1 % and in information and communication activities by 0.1%.
Development in the first eight months of 2024
In total, for the first eight months of 2024, turnover increased year-on-year in selected market services by 7.4%, information and communication activities by 5.2% and in transportation and storage by 2%. On the contrary, cumulative turnover dropped by 7.3% in construction and by 3.6% in industry.
