Inflation in pensioners' households dropped to 1.3%
Inflation- price growth in June 2024 in Slovakia, was published by the Statistical Office of the SR on July 15. On a regular monthly basis, at a later date, it also publishes detailed structures of the price growth rate for selected social groups.
In June, the prices in Slovakia rose by 2.1% year-on-year. Inflation was lower in the households of pensioners and in low-income households. Year-on-year price growth in pensioner households reached 1.3%, in low-income households by 2%. Households of employees experienced a higher index of price growth, namely by 2.2%.
The biggest impact on the resulting inflation indices for individual social groups compared to the average was mainly due to the slowdown in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as transportation. On the contrary, growth of inflation was affected by the prices of housing and energy, but especially the year-on-year higher prices of waste, water and sewage disposal. Only in the households of pensioners were the prices of housing and energy, despite the increase in the price of some components, still lower on average than last year. The inflation rate for three specific social groups has slightly different values, because of the different expenditure structure of these households within the consumption basket.
In total for the first six months of 2024, consumer prices within the entire SR increased by 2.7% year-on-year, in the households of employees it was by 2.8%, in low-income households by 2.6%, in the households of pensioners by 2%.
