In July compared with the previous month, the confidence indicator in construction increased by 5,5 points to -18,0 due to more favourable evaluations of the overall level of order books. The current result is exceeding the long-term average by 7 points.

Compared with the situation in the previous month, the indicator of the building activity trend over the past three months improved by 11 points to 17, mainly due to enterprises performing civil engineering. An increase of the construction activity was recorded by 49 % of respondents, its decrease by 16 % of respondents, and 35 % of enterprises considered it to be unchanged. Compared with June, the evaluation of the current level of overall order books improved by 7 points to -27 mainly due to enterprises performing civil engineering. 4% of respondents consider them to be more than sufficient, 71% sufficient and for 25 % of them the current level of orders was insufficient. 37 % of respondents included shortage of employees, 29 % financial constraints, 23 % insufficient demand, 9% weather conditions and 5 % lack of materials and mechanisms into the most significant factors* limiting a growth of construction production currently. Respondents also report: lack of qualified staff, lack of transparency of public procurement, payment recklessness of customers and from it resulting secondary insolvency, increasing prices of materials and lack of construction preparation. 25% of enterprises do not see any barriers of growth currently. Expectations of respondents in estimation of the employment development improved month-on-month, the business balance of the expected number of employees, increased by 4 points to -9. Over the next three months, 15 % of respondents expect an increase of employment, 69 % expect a stable development and 16 % of enterprises expect a decrease. Compared with June, the business balance of the expected construction production prices over the next three months decreased by 5 points to -6, mainly due to enterprises performing construction of buildings. 14 % of respondents expect a decrease in the number of employees, 76 % do not expect changes and 10 % of enterprises assume an increase.

Based on orders, companies have work orders for 12,2 months, on average. By size categories, there are the most work orders in enterprises employing 500 and more employees (18,4 months) and in terms of production specification, in enterprises performing civil engineering (16,2 months). In territorial terms, respondents confirmed the most orders upon contract in the regions of Bratislava (16,2 months) and the lowest in the region of Trnava (4,2 months).
