In February compared with  January consumer prices increased by 0,1 % in total.  Prices increased in the divisions of miscellaneous goods and services by 1 %; alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 0,7 %; restaurants and hotels by 0,5 %; furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance; health equally by 0,4 %; food and non-alcoholic beverages by 0,3 %; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels; education equally by 0,1 %. Prices dropped in transport by 1,5 %; clothing and footwear by 0,8 %. Prices of communications; recreation and culture remained at the level of January.

A rise of food prices by 0,5 % was affected by  higher prices of vegetables (including potatoes) by 3,2 %; fruit by 1,8 %; meat by 1 %; fish by 0,8 %; sugar, jam, honey, syrups, chocolates and confectionary; food products n.e.c. equally by 0,4 %. Prices of oils and fats decreased by 2 %; bread and cereals by 0,5 %; milk, cheese and eggs by 0,4 %. Prices of non-alcoholic beverages decreased by 1,5 % (prices of mineral waters, non-alcoholic beverages and juices decreased by 2,8 %; prices of coffee, tea and cocoa increased by 0,3 %).

Higher prices of vegetables were caused by a price increase of salad cucumbers by 27,3 %, pepper by 13,1 %, tomatoes by 5,5 %, cauliflower by 2,9 %, celery by 0,5 %. Prices of parsley decreased by 9,7 %, white cabbage by 2,9 %, carrot by 2,8 %, garlic by 1,4 %, onion by 1,3 %, potatoes by 0,3 %. Higher prices of fruit were caused by a growth in prices of tangerines by 14,6 %, table grapes by 9,8 %, apples by 3,9 %, lemons by 2,1 %, kiwi by 1,6 %. Prices of bananas decreased by 5,1 %, oranges by 4,8 %.  A rise in prices of meat was affected by higher prices of sausages by 2,6 %, beef meat by 0,5 %, poultry by 0,3 %. Prices of pork meat dropped by 2,2 %.

Higher prices in the division of alcoholic beverages and tobacco were caused by a rise in prices of alcoholic beverages by 1,4 % (wine by 2,5 %, beer by 2,1 %, prices of spirits did not change). Prices of tobacco remained unchanged.

Lower prices in the division of clothing and footwear were affected by a fall in prices of footwear by 1,1 %; clothing by 0,6 %.

Higher prices in the division of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels were affected by a price increase of services for regular maintenance and repair of the dwelling by 0,9 %; other services related to the dwelling by 0,8 %; refuse collection by 0,4 %; imputed rentals of owner-occupiers; materials for maintenance and repair of the dwelling equally by 0,2 %. Prices of solid fuels decreased by 0,1 %. Prices of actual rentals paid by tenants; water supply; sewage collection; electricity; gas; heat energy were at the level of the last month.

Higher prices in the division of furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance were affected by a rise in prices of furniture and furnishings, carpets and other floor coverings; goods and services for routine household maintenance equally by 0,6 %; household textiles by 0,4 %; household appliances by 0,3 %. Prices of tools and equipment for house and garden decreased by 0,2 %. Prices of glassware, tableware and household utensils remained unchanged.

A rise in prices in the health division was influenced by higher prices of medical products, medical appliances and equipment by 0,5 % (pharmaceutical products by 0,5 %, other medical products by 0,3 %, therapeutic appliances and equipment by 0,2 %); outpatient services (dental services by 0,2 % medical services, middle medical staff services – thermal bath equally by 0,1 %); hospital services equally by 0,1 %.

A price decrease in  transport was caused by lower prices of operation of personal transport equipment by 2,4 % (prices of fuels and lubricants for personal transport equipment decreased by 3,3 %, prices of maintenance and repair  increased by 1 %, other service activities relating to passenger transport equipment by 0,3 %, prices of spare parts and accessories remained unchanged); purchase of transport equipment (second-hand motor vehicles by 0,9 %, new motor vehicles by 0,2 %); transport service activities equally by 0,4 % (prices of passenger transport by air decreased by 7,3 %, prices of other purchase transport service activities increased by 1,4 %, passenger transport by road by 0,5 %). 

In the division of communication, prices of postal and telephone services were unchanged. Prices of telephone equipment rose by 0,2 %.

In the division of recreation and culture, prices of audiovisual and photographic technology; newspapers, books and stationary; package holidays remained unchanged. Prices of recreational services and culture increased by 0,2 %. Prices of other recreational items and equipment for gardens and pets decreased by 0,3 %; other major durables for recreation and culture – musical instruments by 0,1 %. 

Higher prices in the education division were affected by a price rise of pre-primary; primary education by 0,3 % (fee for children school club by 1 %); education not definable by the level by 0,1 % (fee for language course by 0,2 %). Prices of secondary; tertiary education remained unchanged.

A price increase in the division of restaurants and hotels was influenced by higher prices in catering services by 0,5 % (payment for meals in canteens for pensioners by 1,1 %, in restaurants, in cafés by 0,6 %, in canteens by 0,4 %). Prices of accommodation services decreased by 0,1 %. 

A price rise in the division of miscellaneous goods and services was affected by higher prices of personal care by 1,4 %; social protection by 0,6 % (payment in private nursery by 0,8 %, payment in social service facilities by 0,7 %, payment in day care center by 0,1 %); other service n.e.c. by 0,2 %; personal effects n.e.c. by 0,1 %. Prices of insurance; financial services n.e.c. remained unchanged.

In February 2020 compared with February 2019, consumer prices increased by 3 % in total. Prices increased in the divisions of education by 5 %; food and non-alcoholic beverages by 4,6 %; miscellaneous goods and services by 4,2 %; transport by 2,9 %; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels by 2,7 %; recreation and culture by 2,6 %; alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 2,2 %; furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance; communication equally by 2,1 %; restaurants and hotels by 1,9 %; health by 1,4 %; clothing and footwear by 1,1 %. 

On average, over the first two months of 2020 compared with the same period of 2019, consumer prices increased by 3 % in total. 

In February compared with January, index of consumer prices increased in households of employees and in low-income households equally by 0,1 %, in households of pensioners by 0,2 %,. 

In February 2020, index of consumer prices year-on-year increased in households of  employees by 2,9 %, households of pensioners by 3,2 % and in low-income households by 3 %.

On  average, over the first two months of 2019 compared with the same period of 2019, index of consumer prices increased in households of employees by 3 %, in household of pensioners by 3,2 % and in low-income households by 3,1 %.
