In January 2020, industrial production year-on-year increased by 0,5 %. The development according to the sections of SK NACE Rev. 2 was affected by a rise in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 5,6 % and in mining and quarrying by 16,8 % and by a fall in manufacturing by 0,6 %.

In terms of the specific groupings of the industrial sectors, which contributed most to the total production increase, the most significant increase was recorded in manufacture of transport equipment by 9,4 %, manufacture of electrical equipment by 20,6 %, electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 5,6 %, mining and quarrying by 16,8 % and manufacture of chemicals and chemical products by 1,8 %. The total production was affected by a fall mostly in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products by 27,8 %, manufacture of metal and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment by 8,8 %, manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. by 6 %, other manufacture, repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 11,4 % and in manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and preparations by 35,6 %.

Compared with January 2019, in terms of the main industrial groupings, production of investment goods increased by 3,9 %, production relating to energy by 2,7 % and production of intermediate goods by 1,1 %. Production of durable consumer goods decreased by 24,1 % and production of non-durable consumer goods by 9,4 %.

After seasonal adjustment, industrial production increased by 4,6 % in January 2020, compared with December 2019.


Note: industrial production represents volume production changes in its natural expression. Data are adjusted from the influence of the number of working days by program JDEMETRA+ and during processing of every month they are back-casted from the beginning of the time series.
In January 2020, the number of working days was by one day lower compared with the corresponding period in 2019.
