Industrial producer prices remained significantly lower year-on-year, in agriculture they were lower by only 1.1%
In September, industrial producers sold products in Slovakia by almost 9% cheaper than a year ago, mainly due to lower prices in the oil processing sector and in the energy sector. Farmers only reduced the prices of crop products year-on-year.
In September 2024, industrial producers prices for the domestic market were lower by 8.5% year-on-year. Producers in 9 out of 16 monitored sectors of industry had lower prices. It was affected by the drop in energy prices by 18.1%. Prices were also lower in manufacture of food, beverages and tobacco by 2.1%, transport equipment by 2%, and in manufacture of metals by 0.7%. The price increase was recorded again in the supply of water by 11.6% and manufacture of rubber and plastic products by 4.2%. In a month-on-month comparison, prices rose by 0.4%. In total for the first nine months of 2024, the domestic producer prices of industrial producers were lower by 10.5%, year-on-year.
Industrial producers for the non-domestic market were lower by 0.7% year-on-year, and dropped by 0.2% month-on-month. In the first nine months of 2024, industrial producer prices for the non-domestic market were lower by 1.4% than a year ago.

Agricultural product prices
In September 2024, agricultural product prices were lower than a year ago by only 1.1%.
In September, crop products were on average cheaper by 2% than a year ago, mainly due to the lower prices of cereals (by 3%). Vegetables continued to have double-digit higher prices, but the current growth value of over 13% was the lowest this year and significantly lower than at the beginning of 2024. Potatoes, even after the new harvest, maintained a year-on-year higher production prices, by 9% in September.
On the contrary, animal products were on average 0.5% more expensive than a year ago. The prices of hen edible eggs remained at significantly lower by almost 17% compared to a year ago. However, the prices of beef (slaughter cattle and calves) were higher by 8%. Pork production (slaughter pigs) was only by 1.2% more expensive year-on-year.
In total for the first nine months, the prices of agricultural products were lower by 6.9%, of which crop products by 10.3% and animal products by 2.7%.
Producer prices in construction
In the ninth month of 2024, construction works prices were higher by 5.6% year-on-year, they increased by 0.2% compared to August, and in total for the first nine months they increased by 5.7%.
The prices of materials used in construction were higher by 1% in September compared to a year ago, they dropped by 0.5% month-on-month and cumulatively since the beginning of the year reached a year-on-year decrease by 1.5%.
