Development in January 2020 in comparison with December 2019 1)

Turnover increased, month-on-month, in industry by 7,5 %, construction by 4,9 % and in transportation and storage by 3,3 %. It decreased only in information and communication by 0,8 %. In selected market services it remained unchanged, at the level of December 2019.

Development in January 2020 compared with January 2019

Turnover in industry increased by 0,2 %. The development by the SK NACE sections was affected by an increase in mining and quarrying by 9,6 %, water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation by 9,4 %, manufacturing by 1,4 % and by a decrease in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 7,8 %. In terms of particular groupings of industrial sectors, which contributed at most to the total turnover increase, the most significant rise was recorded in manufacture of transport equipment by 6,5 %, manufacture of wood and paper products, printing by 13 %, manufacture of rubber and plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products by 5,6 %, manufacture of food, beverages and tobacco products by 5,7 % and in water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation by 9,4 %. Turnover decreased mainly in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 7,8 %, manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products by 24,4 %, manufacture of basic metal and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment by 6,1 %, manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products by 14,7 % and in manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. by 1,3 %.

In construction, the turnover increased compared with January 2019 it was higher by 13,9 %.

Turnover in transportation and storage 2) decreased by 2,8 %, month-on-month. The development was affected mainly by a decrease in warehousing and support activities for transportation by 8,9 %. Turnover decreased also in air and waterway transport.

Turnover in information and communication 3) increased, year-on-year, by 9,2 % affected by higher turnover almost in all activities. The total turnover was influenced by a turnover rise mainly in computer programming by 12,8 %. There was a decrease only in radio and television broadcasting.

In selected market services 4), the turnover growth continued also at the beginning of 2020. Total turnover increased by 7,3 %, mainly due to the growth in real estate activities by 21,4 %, gambling and betting activities by 13 % and in travel agencies and tour operator activities by 51,7 %. Turnover decreased the most in advertising and market research.
