In October compared with   September consumer prices decreased by 0,1 % in total.  Prices dropped in the divisions of transport by 2 %; food and non-alcoholic beverages by 0,5 %. Prices rose in the divisions of restaurants and hotels; miscellaneous goods and services equally by 0,5 %; furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance by 0,4 %; clothing and footwear; recreation and culture equally by 0,3 %; alcoholic beverages and tobacco; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels; health; education equally by 0,1 %. Prices of communications remained at the level of September.

A decrease of food prices by 0,5 % was affected by lower prices of fruit by 3,5 %; vegetables (including potatoes) by 1,8 %; milk, cheese and eggs by 0,6 %; bread and cereals by 0,5 %. Prices of oils and fats increased by 0,9 %; fish by 0,4 %; sugar, jam, honey, syrups, chocolates and confectionary by 0,3 %; meat by 0,1 %.

Prices of mineral waters, soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices rose by 0,2 %, prices of coffee, tea and cocoa dropped by 0,4 % in non-alcoholic beverages.

Lower prices of fruit were caused by cut in prices of tangerines by 25,8 %, lemons by 2,5 %, kiwi by 1,5 %. Prices of bananas rose by 5,8 %, table grapes by 2,4 %, oranges by 0,9 %, apples by 0,4 %. Lower prices of vegetables were caused by a price drop of celery by 20,2 %, white cabbage by 17,4 %, parsley by 14 %, onion by 7,5 %, salad cucumbers by 5,4 %, potatoes by 4,1 %, carrot by 3,1 %, garlic by 1,6 %, cauliflower by 0,9 %. Prices of pepper rose by 9 %, tomatoes by 2,6 %. A rise in prices of meat was affected by higher prices of sausages by 1,3 %, beef meat by 0,4 %. Prices of poultry dropped by 0,8 %, pork meat by 0,4 %.

Higher prices in the division of alcoholic beverages and tobacco were caused by a rise in prices of alcoholic beverages by 0,2 % (prices of beer increased by 1,9 %, prices of wine dropped by 1 %, spirits by 0,6 %). Prices of tobacco remained unchanged.

Higher prices in the division of clothing and footwear were affected by an increase in prices of footwear by 0,6 %; clothing by 0,2 %.

Higher prices in the division of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels were affected by a price increase of services for regular maintenance and repair of the dwelling; other services related to the dwelling equally by 0,6 %; materials for maintenance and repair of the dwelling; heat energy equally by 0,1 %. Prices of imputed rentals of owner-occupiers decreased by 0,1 %. Prices of actual rentals paid by tenants; water supply; refuse collection; sewage collection; electricity; gas; solid fuels remained at the level of the previous month.

Higher prices in the division of furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance were affected by a rise in prices of household textiles by 1,1 %; goods and services for routine household maintenance by 0,7 %; glassware, tableware and household utensils by 0,5 %; tools and equipment for house and garden by 0,3 %; furniture and furnishings, carpets and other floor coverings by 0,2 %; household appliances by 0,1 %.

A rise in prices in the health division was influenced by higher prices of medical products, medical appliances and equipment by 0,1 % (therapeutic appliances and equipment by 0,3 %, pharmaceutical products, other medical products equally by 0,1 %). Prices of outpatient services (prices of medical services, dental services remained unchanged, prices of middle medical staff services- thermal bath rose by 0,2 %); hospital services remained unchanged.

A price cut in  transport was caused by lower prices of transport service activities by 6,2 % (passenger transport by air by 42,1 %, prices of passenger transport by road, other purchase transport service activities remained unchanged);  purchase of transport equipment by 0,1 % (bikes by 1,5 %; prices of new and second-hand motor vehicles remained unchanged). Prices of operation of personal transport equipment increased by 0,3 % (spare parts and accessories, other service activities relating to passenger transport equipment equally by 0,4 %, fuels and lubricants for personal transport by 0,3 %, maintenance and repair by 0,1 %).

In the division of communication prices of postal and telephone services were unchanged. Prices of telephone equipment rose by 0,3 %.

Higher prices in the division of recreation and culture were affected by a rise in prices of other recreational items and equipment for gardens and pets by 0,8 %; newspapers, books and stationary by 0,3 %; recreational services and culture by 0,2 %; audiovisual and photographic technology; other major durables for recreation and culture – musical instruments equally by 0,1 %. Prices of package holidays decreased by 0,3 %.

Higher prices in the education division were affected by an increase in prices of education not definable by level by 0,4 % (fee for language lessons by 0,7 %, fee in language school by 0,4 %). Prices of tertiary education dropped by 0,1 % (fee for external study at university by 0,1 %). Prices of pre-primary and primary education; secondary education were at the level of the previous month.

A price increase in the division of restaurants and hotels was influenced by higher prices in accommodation services by 0,8 %; catering services by 0,4 % (prices of payment for meals in canteens for pensioners rose by 0,9 %; in restaurants, in cafés by 0,5 %, in canteens by 0,4 %, school catering at universities by 0,3 %, prices of school catering in primary and secondary schools decreased equally by 0,1 %).

An increase in prices in the division of miscellaneous goods and services was influenced by higher prices of personal care by 0,7 %; personal effects n.e.c.; social protection equally by 0,3 % (payment for care services by 0,5 %, payment in social service facilities by 0,2 %). Prices of insurance (prices of insurance relating to transport did not change, prices of insurance relating to health rose by 0,1 %); financial services n.e.c.; other services n.e.c. remained at the level of the previous month.

In October 2019 compared with October 2018, consumer prices increased by 2,7 % in total. Prices increased in the divisions of food and non-alcoholic beverages by 4,8 %; education by 4,5 %; miscellaneous goods and services by 4 %; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels by 3,8 %; alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 2,7 %; communication by 2,3 %; recreation and culture by 1,8 %; furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance, restaurants and hotels equally by 1,6 %; health by 1,1 %; clothing and footwear by 0,5 %. Prices dropped in transport by 1,2 %.

On average, over the first ten months of 2019 compared with the same period of 2018, consumer prices increased by 2,6 % in total. 

In October compared with September, index of consumer prices decreased in households of employees and in households of pensioners equally by 0,1 %, it remained unchanged in low-income households.

In October 2019, index of consumer prices increased, year-on-year, in households of  employees by 2,6 %, households of pensioners by 3,2 % and in low-income households by 2,9 %.


On  average, over the first ten months of 2019 compared with the same period of 2018, index of consumer prices increased in households of employees by 2,5 %, in household of pensioners by 3 % and in low-income households by 2,7 %.
