In May 2019, the total export of goods reached the value of EUR 6 857,8 million with a 0,2 % year-on-year decrease. The total import of goods rose by 3,8 % to EUR 6 724,7 million. The foreign trade balance was in surplus in the value of EUR 133,1 million (by EUR 261,5 million lower than in the corresponding period last year).
In January-May 2019, compared with the corresponding period last year, the total export of goods increased by 5,5 % to EUR 34 211,8 million and the total import by 6,6 % to EUR 33 094,7 million. The foreign trade balance was in surplus in the amount of EUR 1 117,1 million (by EUR 264 million lower than in the corresponding period last year).
In January-May 2019, compared with the corresponding period last year, export to the EU Member States increased by 2,8 % and it represented 84,2 % of the total export. Import from the EU Member States represented 68,5 % of the total import and it grew by 9,3 %, year-on-year.
In January-May 2019, compared with the corresponding period last year, export to the non-EU countries increased by 22,7 % and it represented 15,8 % of the total export. Import from the non-EU countries represented 31,5 % of the total import and it increased by 1,3 %, year-on-year.
In the foreign trade of the SR, the most traded SITC section was Machinery and transport equipment with a share of 62,4 % of the total export and 50,4 % of the total import.
In May 2019, after
seasonal adjustment, the total export of goods reached the value of EUR 6 662,9 million with a year-on-year growth by 2,2 %. The total import of goods increased by 1,2 % to EUR 6 560,9 million. The foreign trade balance was in surplus in the amount of EUR 102 million (by EUR 231,7 million lower than in
May 2018).
