Turnover in selected sectors of economy in July 2019

Development in July 2019 in comparison with June 2019 1)

Turnover increased, month-on-month, in transportation and storage by 2,2 %, construction by 1,9 % and information and communication activities by 0,5 %. It decreased in industry by 1,4 % and in selected market services by 0,7 %.

Development in July 2019 compared with July 2018

Turnover in industry decreased for the second consecutive month, it decreased by 3,6 %, year-on-year. The development by the SK NACE sections was affected by a decrease in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 16,2 %; manufacturing by 2 % and by an increase in water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation by 13,5 % and in mining and quarrying by 0,2 %. In terms of particular groupings of industrial sectors, which contributed at most to the total turnover decrease, the most significant drop was recorded in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 16,2 %, in manufacture of transport equipment by 3,3 %, manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products by 27 %, in manufacture of basic metal and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment by 5,5 % and in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products by 12,4 %. Turnover increased in manufacture of rubber and plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products by 17 %, in other manufacture, repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 11 %, in water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation by 13,5 %, in manufacture of food, beverages and tobacco products by 2,8 % and in mining and quarrying by 0,2 %.

Similarly in construction, the turnover decreased for the second consecutive month, in July 2019, it decreased by 2 %, year-on-year.

Turnover in transportation and storage 2) increased by 3 %, year-on-year, due to a growth in postal and courier services by 25,6 %, warehousing and support activities for transportation by 4,6 % and in land transport and transport via pipelines by 0,7 %. Turnover was lower year-on-year, in air and waterborne transport.

Turnover in information and communication 3) increased, year-on-year, by 4,9 %. The growth was affected by higher turnover mostly in computer programming by 13,4 %. There was a decrease in information and communication services and in motion picture, video and television programme production.

In selected market services 4) the total turnover increased by 2,3 %. The growth was affected by higher turnover mainly in administrative, office support activities by 9,4 % and in real estate activities by 10,5 %. The turnover was lower in architectural and engineering activities, in gambling and betting activities and in travel agencies and tour operator activities.

Total turnover in industry increased by 3,6 %. The development by the sections of SK NACE Rev. 2 was affected by an increase in water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation by 14 %; manufacturing by 5 %; mining and quarrying by 4 % and by a drop in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 7,2 %.  In terms of particular groupings of industrial sectors, turnover increased mostly in manufacture of transport equipment by 14,5 %, other manufacture, repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 9,8 %, manufacture of food, beverages and tobacco products by 4,2 %, in water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation by 14 % and in manufacture of rubber and plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products by 2,4 %. Turnover decreased, year-on-year, mainly in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 7,2 %, manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products by 6,7 %, manufacture of basic metal and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment by 1,5 %, manufacture of textiles, apparel, leather and related products by 8 % and in manufacture of chemicals and chemical products by 7,7 %.

Turnover in construction enterprises increased by 2,6 %.

Turnover in transportation and storage rose, year-on-year, by 3,9 % affected mostly by higher turnover in warehousing and support activities for transportation by 8,4 % and in postal and courier activities by 13 %. It dropped only in land transport and transport via pipelines.

Total turnover in information and communication increased by 9,2 %. It rose in all activities, most considerably in computer programming by 12,2 %,  telecommunication by 6,8 % and in  information service activities by 8,1 %.

In selected market services, turnover increased by 9 %. There was an increase in all activities, it was the most considerable in administrative, office support and other business support activities by 12,5 %, in real estate activities by 7,9 % and in gambling and betting activities by 5,6 %.
