Orders in industry continued decreasing year-on-year
The value of new orders in industry in February 2024 decreased by 6.8% year-on-year and reached a volume of EUR 5.51 billion. After seasonal adjustment, new orders increased by 2.4% month-on-month.1)
The Statistical Office of the SR points out that starting from the data for January 2024, all values of monthly and yearly indices for the monitored sectors have been recalculated due to methodological adjustments – transition to a new base period (from 2015 to 2021) and application of a concept of kind-of-activity units2). The change affects all monthly indicators of sectoral statistics.
The volume of new orders in industry in the second month of 2024 decreased in 8 of the 12 monitored industrial sectors.
Orders decreased significantly year-on-year, especially in manufacture of apparel, manufacture of chemicals and chemical products, and in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products. Orders rose the most year-on-year in manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, manufacture and processing of metals, and manufacture of electrical equipment.
