As of March 31, 2024, the Slovak Republic had 5,422,620 inhabitants, which was 4,190 less compared to the same period of the previous year (5,426,810).
In 1st quarter of 2024, there were 11,596 live births in the Slovak Republic, 327 fewer than in the same period of the previous year, and 14,092 deaths, 283 fewer than in the 1st quarter of of the previous year. The natural decrease of the population was 2,496 persons, 44 persons lower than in the 1st quarter of 2023.
The net foreign migration reached 429 persons in the 1st quarter of 2024 (there were 1,316 immigrants and 887 emigrants).
The total decrease of the population of the Slovak Republic at the end of 1st quarter of 2024 was 2,067 inhabitants, 85 persons lower compared to the same period of the previous year.
