As of December 31, 2023, the Slovak Republic had 5,424,687 inhabitants, which was 4,105 less compared to the same period of the previous year (the population at the end of the year 2022 was 5,428,792).
In 2023, there were 48,627 live births in the Slovak Republic, which was 4,041 less than in 2022, and 54,133 deaths, 5,450 less than in the previous year.
The natural decrease of the population represented 5,506 persons, compared to the year 2022 it was 1,409 persons lower.
The net foreign migration reached 1,401 people in 2023 (there were 5,923 immigrants and 4,522 emigrants).
