Public transport1) accounted for almost 72% of freight transport.

In March, road freight transport (a key component of public freight transport1)) still lagged slightly behind the last year's values, but it exceeded volumes two years ago by 6.3%.

Freight transport performance, which also takes into account the transport distance, reached 3.6 billion tonne-kilometres (tkm). Compared to the previous year, it increased by 1.8%, compared to two years ago, it rose by a third.

Passenger transport grew year-on-year due to better road transport performance

In March 2022, 52.9 million passengers were carried by all forms of public passenger transport, it was a double increase compared to the last year. Compared to March 2020, the number of passengers carried rose by 31%, but the pre-pandemic values were still not reached (March 2019).
