In April, construction output decreased by 4,5 % and amounted to EUR 423 million. After seasonal adjustment, it was lower by 0,9 % compared with March 2019.
In April 2019 compared with April 2018, output realized by domestic construction companies decreased by 5,1 % and amounted to EUR 399,7 million. Its share on the total construction output decreased, year-on-year, by 0,6 p.p. to 94,5 %. Within domestic output, the volume of works in new construction, renewals and enhancements decreased the fourth month in a row, it dropped by 9 %, compared with April 2018. Repairs and maintenance works increased by 0,5 %. In the structure of the domestic output, the share of new construction, renewals and enhancements represented 71,1 % (by 3,2 p.p. less than in April 2018). The share of repairs and maintenance works represented 25,1 %. In terms of output specification, the volume of works on construction of buildings decreased by 2,4 %, on civil engineering works by 9,6 %. Within domestic output, construction of buildings represented 65 %, civil engineering works accounted for 35 %.
Output carried out by non-domestic construction companies again increased by 7,5 % in April after two-month decrease. Its share represented 5,5 % of the total output volume.
On average, over the first four months of 2019 compared with the corresponding period of 2018, construction output dropped by 1,7 % and reached the volume of EUR 1 418,6 million. Domestic output decreased by 1,8 % to EUR 1 335,3 million. Works on new construction, renewals and enhancements dropped by 5,3 % to EUR 939,7 million. The volume of works in repairs and maintenance increased, year-on-year, by 4,3 % and amounted to EUR 358,6 million. In the structure of the domestic output, the share of new construction, renewals and enhancements decreased by 2,6 p.p. to 70,4 %, the share of repairs and maintenance works represented 26,9 %. Non-domestic output increased by 0,8 %.
