New orders in industry continued to increase in April 2023
The value of new orders in industry increased by 4.3% year-on-year and reached a volume1) of EUR 5.36 billion in April. On a month-on-month basis, after taking seasonal effects into account, new orders in industry decreased by 2.8% in April 20232).
New orders grew for the third month in a row, but a dynamics of the year-on-year growth decreased significantly in April compared to the previous month. The volume rose in half of the 12 monitored sectors of industry.
Orders increased the most in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products, manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers, and manufacture of fabricated metal structures, except machinery and equipment year-on-year. Orders decreased mainly in manufacture of chemicals and chemical products, manufacture of electrical equipment and manufacture of paper and paper products year-on-year.
