In July, the total exports of goods reached EUR 5 883,2 million with a year-on-year increase by 0,8 %. The total imports of goods decreased by 8,9 % to EUR 5 550,5 million. The foreign trade balance was in surplus in the amount of EUR 332,7 million.
In January and July 2020, compared with the corresponding period last year, the total export of goods decreased by 14,7 % to EUR 39 722,2 million and the total import by 14,5 % to EUR 39 222,9 million. The foreign trade balance was in surplus in the amount of EUR 499,3 million (by EUR 164,4 million lower than in the corresponding period last year).
In January and July 2020, compared with the corresponding period last year, export to the EU Member States decreased by 14,5 % and it represented 79,4 % of the total export. Import from the EU Member States represented 66,5 % of the total import and it dropped by 13,8 %, year-on-year.
In January and July 2020, compared with the corresponding period in 2019, export to the non-EU Member States decreased by 15,1 % and it represented 20,6 % of the total export. Import from the non-EU Member States represented 33,5 % of the total import and it decreased by 16 %, year-on-year.
In the foreign trade of the SR, the most traded SITC section was Machinery and transport equipment with a share of 61,3 % of the total export and 48,7 % of the total import.
In July 2020, after seasonal adjustment, the total export of goods reached the value of EUR 6 526,9 million with a year-on-year decrease by 1,1 %. The total import of goods decreased by 8,8 % to EUR 6 023,5 million. The foreign trade balance was in surplus in the amount of EUR 503,3 million.
