In September, the seasonally adjusted confidence indicator in services slightly increased again, its value (13,7) rose by 0,7 percentage points (p.p.) compared with August. The indicator´s development was affected by more optimistic evaluations of the demand over the past three months, as well as the expected demand, while the business situation was evaluated more negatively by the respondents.

Compared with the last month´s survey, the business situation over the past three months deteriorated, the business balance (of seasonally adjusted data) decreased by 5 points and reached the level 7. A deterioration of the business situation is felt by 8 % enterprises (similarly as in August), 21 % of respondents reported an improvement (by 5 p.p. less), 71 % of enterprises (by 5 p.p. more) had a stable development. They were less satisfied mainly in transportion and storage, in financial and insurance activites, as well as professional, scientific and technical activities; an improvement of the situation was recorded mainly in accommodation and food services as well as in arts, entertainment and recreation, compared with August. Compared with the last month´s survey, the demand for the services over the past three months (10) increased by 3 points. A increase of the demand was felt mainly in the field of real estates, in accommodation and food services, in information and communication, arts, entertainment and recreation; a lower demand was recorded mainly in transporatation and storage. The expected development of the demand for services over the next three months was also evaluated more positively by respondents, the seasonally adjusted business balance (24) increased by 4 points.  A higher demand is expected mainly in real estates activities, as well as in transportation and storage, moderately also in arts, entertainment and recreation; significantly lower interest in their services is assumed by accommodation and food services. 13 % of enterprises increased the number of their employees over the past three months (by 1 p.p less than in August), 42 % of enterprises reported a decrease (similarly as in the previous survey), 45 % of enterprises had a stable development (by 1 p.p more). Compared with the previous month, the final seasonally adjusted balance (-24) rose by 1 p.p. indicating a slight improvement in the employment situation. The number of employees increased in accommodation and food services and in financial and insurance activities; there was a lower number of employees, especially in arts, entertainment and recreation. In the development of the employment over the next three months, a deterioration of the situation is assumed, the business balance (-7) decreased by 6 points, compared with the previous month. A lower number of employees is assumed mainly in accommodation and food services, also in financial and insurance activities, a higher number of employees is planned especially in arts, entertainment and recreation, also in transportation and storage and in professional, scientific and technical activities. Compared with the previous period, the business balance of the expected prices of services over the next three months (13) remained unchanged while 8 % of enterpirses consider a price rise, 3 % of enterpirses expect a decrease, however, the majority of enterprises (89 %) assume a stable development.


Note: * In September 554 respondents were participated in survey which represents the whole service sector. The values of the confidence indicator in services and the balances range from -100 (responses of all respondents are pessimistic) to 100 (responses of all respondents are optimistic). Confidence indicator and balances on republic level are seasonally adjusted.
