Turnover in selected sectors of economy in November 2019

Development in November 2019 in comparison with October 20191)

Turnover increased, month-on-month, in information and communication by 2,8 % and in construction by 0,2 %. It decreased in transportation and storage by 1,9 %, industry by 1,5 % and in selected market services by 0,2 %.

Development in November 2019 compared with November 2018

Turnover in industry continued to decrease, compared with November 2018 it decreased by 8,4 %. The development by the SK NACE sections was affected by a decrease in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 12,8 %, manufacturing by 8 % and in water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation by 1,7 %. Turnover in mining and quarrying did not change.

In terms of particular groupings of industrial sectors, which contributed at most to the total turnover decrease, the most significant drop was recorded in manufacture of transport equipment by 5,3 %, manufacture of metal and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment by 14,1 %, electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 12,8 %, manufacture of rubber and plastic products and other non-mineral products by 11,5 % and  in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products by 13,4 %. Turnover increased only in manufacture of food, beverages and tobacco products by 3,6 %,  manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products by 4,3 % and in water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation by 1,7 %.

Turnover in construction decreased by 2,5 % compared with November 2018.

Turnover in transportation and storage2) increased by 1,3 %, year-on-year, due to a rise in postal and courier activities by 13,2 %, warehousing and support activities in transportation by 2,2 % and in air transport by 22,5 %. Turnover decreased, year-on-year, in land transport and transport via pipelines.  

Turnover in information and communication3) continued to increase. Compared with November 2018, it rose by 12 % mostly as a result of an increase in computer programming by 18 %, information service activities by 23,2 % and in telecommunications by 5,8 %. It decreased only in motion picture, video and television programme production and in publishing activities.

Turnover in  selected market services4) increased, year-on-year, by 0,1 %. It rose mostly in  administrative, office support and other business support activities by 23,1 % and in security and investigation activities by 21,3 %. The development was affected by a decrease mostly in architectural and engineering activities and in gambling and betting activities.

Development over the first eleven months of 2019 in comparison with the same period in 2018

Since the beginning of the year, total turnover in industry decreased, year-on-year, by 0,4 %. The development by the sections of SK NACE Rev. 2 was affected by a fall in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 10,3 %, mining and quarrying by 4,2 % and by a rise in water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation by 9,8 % and in manufacturing by 0,9 %.  In terms of particular groupings of industrial sectors, turnover decreased mostly in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 10,3 %, manufacture of metal and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment by 3,7 %, manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products by 8,6 %, manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. by 3,1 % and in manufacture of textiles, apparel, leather and related products by 6,9 %. Year-on-year, turnover increased in manufacture of  transport equipment by 5,7 %, manufacture of food, beverages and tobacco products by 4,8 %, other manufacture, repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 6,3 %, water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation by 9,8 % and in manufacture of rubber and plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products by 1 %.

Turnover in construction enterprises increased by 0,1 %.

Turnover in transportation and storage rose, year-on-year, by 3,4 %. A rise was affected by higher turnover mostly in  warehousing and support activities for transportation by 7 % and in postal and courier activities by 14,5 %. Turnover decreased only in  land transport and transport via pipelines.

Total turnover in information and communication increased by 8,5 %. It rose mainly in computer programming by 12,2 % and in  telecommunication by 5,9 %. Turnover decreased, year-on-year,  only in motion picture, video and television programme production.

In selected market services, turnover increased by 6,2 %, year-on-year. It rose in all activities, mostly in administrative, office support and other business support activities by 14,5 %, real estate activities by 8,6 % and in legal and accounting activities by 5 %.
