Development in September 2019 compared with August 2019 1)

Turnover increased, month-on-month, in wholesale by 3,6 % and in sale and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles by 1,3 %. Prices decreased in accommodation by 12,5 %, in food and beverage service activities by 1,8 % and in retail trade by 0,4%.

Development in September 2019 compared with September 2018

In September 2019, turnover in sale and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles increased, year-on-year, by 12,5 %, as a result of rise in all activities. It increased in sale of motor vehicles by 12,5 %, in sale of parts and accessories of motor vehicles by 29,7 % and in maintenance of motor vehicles by 0,2 %.

Turnover in wholesale increased by 1,7 %, year-on-year. Turnover rose in most of activities, mostly in wholesale of machinery and equipment by 13,7 % and in wholesale of ICT equipment by 17,1 %. Turnover decreased only in other specialized wholesale and in wholesale on a fee or contract basis.

Turnover in retail trade continued to decrease, it dropped by 2,7 %, year-on-year, in September. A fall was affected by lower turnover mostly in retail sale in non-specialized stores by 3 %, in retail sale of other goods in specialized stores by 4,7 % and in retail trade not in stores, stalls or markets by 8,1 %. Turnover was higher mostly in retail sale of food, beverages and tobacco in specialized stores and in retail sale of other household goods in specialized stores.

Turnover in accommodation increased by 12,8 % in comparison with the corresponding period last year.

Turnover in food and beverage service activities increased, year-on-year, by 25,2 %.

Development over the nine months of 2019 compared with the corresponding period of 2018

Turnover in sale and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles increased by 6,5 % as a result of an increase in sale of motor vehicles by 7,2 %, in sale of motor vehicle parts and accessories by 14,4 % and in repair and maintenance of motor vehicles by 1,3 %.

Turnover in wholesale increased by 1 %. The development was affected by higher turnover mainly in wholesale of household goods by 5,7 %, wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco products by 3,2 % and in wholesale of machinery and equipment by 7,3 %. A turnover decrease was in wholesale on a fee or contract basis, in other specialized wholesale and in wholesale of ICT equipment.

Turnover in retail trade decreased year-on-year by 0,7 % due to lower turnover in retail sale in non-specialized stores by 2,6 %, in retail sale of other goods in specialized stores by 2,9 % and in retail sale of ICT in specialized stores by 6,4 %. In other activities, turnover increased most considerably in retail sale of automotive fuels in specialized stores and in retail sale of food, beverages and tobacco in specialized stores.

Turnover in accommodation increased by 12,2 %.

Turnover in food and beverage service activities rose by 16,7 %.
