Inflation – consumer price indices in 2023
In 2023, consumer prices still rose at a double-digit rate year-on-year, and inflation reached the fourth highest value in 30 years. Compared to 2022, the pace of consumer price growth has slowed and the average inflation for 2023 reached 10,5%.

November wages rose in all 10 monitored sectors, and for a second month they were also higher in real terms than the growth of inflation. Employers registered fewer employees year-on-year, an employment decline was not registered only in two sectors.

The number of visitors to accommodation establishments in Slovakia in November was the highest in the last four years and comparable to 2018. Compared to 2019, however, its values are still lower by a fifth.

The year-on-year decrease in e-shop turnover had the most significant impact on the ongoing decline in retail turnover. The turnover of hyper- and supermarkets also did not exceed last year's level, but it was the lowest since the beginning of 2023.

Consumer confidence rose for the fourth consecutive month. Consumers expect an improvement in the general economic situation, the financial situation of households and also in the development of unemployment.
