In February 2020, after a rise in the previous month, industrial production again decreased by 1,5 % year-on-year. The development according to the sections of SK NACE Rev. 2 was affected by a fall in manufacturing by 3 % and by an increase in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 5,8 % and in mining and quarrying by 17,9 %.

In terms of the specific groupings of the industrial sectors, which contributed most to the total production decrease, the most significant decrease was recorded in manufacture of transport equipment by 7,4 %, manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. by 9,9 %, manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products by 13,4 %, other manufacture, repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 9,7 % and manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations by 25,2 %. The total production was mostly affected by a rise in manufacture of electrical equipment by 18,8 %, electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 5,8 %, mining and quarrying by 17,9 %, manufacture of rubber and plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products by 2,8 % and in manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products by 4,9 %.

Compared with February 2019, in terms of the main industrial groupings, production of durable consumer goods decreased by 20,1 %, production of non-durable consumer goods by 5,7 % and production of investment goods by 5,2 %. Production relating to energy increased by 4,7 % and production of intermediate goods by 3,9 %.

After seasonal adjustment, industrial production decreased by 0,7 % in February 2020 compared with January 2020.

Since the beginning of 2020, IP decreased  by 0,5 % year-on-year, of which in manufacturing by 1,8 %. Production rose in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 5,7 % and in mining and quarrying by 17,3 %.

In terms of the specific groupings of the industrial sectors, which contributed most to the total production decrease, the most significant decrease was recorded in manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. by 7,9 %, manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products by 20,8 %, manufacture of metal and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment by 4,4 %, other manufacture, repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 10,5 % and in manufacture of pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations by 30,5 %. Production mostly rose in manufacture of electrical equipment by 19,7 %, electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 5,7 %, mining and quarrying by 17,3 %, manufacture of transport equipment by 0,5 % and in manufacture of rubber and plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products by 1 %.

In terms of the main industrial groupings, production of durable consumer goods decreased by 22,1 %, production of non-durable consumer goods by 7,6 % and production of investment goods by 0,9 %. Production relating to energy increased by 3,7 % and production of intermediate goods by 2,5 %.

Data are adjusted from the influence of the number of working days by program JDEMETRA+ and during processing of every month they are back-casted from the beginning of the time series. In February 2020, the number of working days was coincident compared with the corresponding period in 2019 and it was lower by 1 day since the beginning of the year.
